Sumo Turned A Corner Thanks To CBD Oil
Sumo turned a corner so it seems. After barely eating, becoming all skin-and-bones and looking terribly fragile, our Sumo-boy regained his lust for food after his fever, probably from an infection related to a large tumor in his lower abdomen, broke.
Sumo has been on 125 Mg CBD oil, 3 droppers/day imported from my country of origin, Switzerland, of all places and
Phytocillin, an herbal antibiotic, 6 drops 3 x day.

Tripe, unfrozen, one square at a time, mixed with pumpkin or tripe from a can (Tripett brand from New Zealand in various flavors) is what I mostly have been feeding Sumo by hand. After 2 weeks, Sumo ate a meal on his own for the very first time. His energy has been up and down, just when I thought that our boy was getting better, next day he seemed worse, low energy, barely able to walk, but sometimes by the evening or a day later, surprisingly, Sumo would lead us once again on our walks with this characteristic, determined spring in his steps. He is weak, so we rest frequently and we take whatever time needed. Of course, I am happy to carry Sumo on our walks, but mostly he comes along on his own. Nights he has been sleeping on my side under the covers as I keep repeatedly checking his bony body for the movement of his breath. After the exhausting ups and downs, I am now cautiously optimistic. Questions remain, what's next?
I have been a proponent for the decriminalization of marijuana for a long time. No doubt, people of color have been targeted disproportionately by the war on drugs and by keeping marijuana in a ridiculously high classification of drugs where it simply does not belong. While I have witnessed the adverse effects of dope on some folks close to me over an extended time, I still believe it does not even come close to the adverse effects alcohol has on our society. So the legalization of marijuana has taken on a surprisingly personal urgency for us as Sumo seems to have greatly benefitted from the CBD oil which in Santa Fe, New Mexico, is dispensed legally and without the necessity of a doctor's prescription.
The other day a friend posted this in regard to her dog and the seeming benefit of CBD oil: "About two months ago my little dog was diagnosed with cancer. Tumors on his liver, small intestine, and enlarged lymph nodes. He was given 2 to 4 months to live… 6 maximum. I started doing research and decided to give him a combination of CBD, which is a hemp/cannabis derivative that has no psychoactive effect. I also gave him turmeric extract. Over the next 2 months his appetite came back, his digestion improved significantly, he gained a pound and a half (which is significant for a 17 pound dog) and his energy returned. He is now running and playing like a puppy. Today I took him back to the vet. His main tumor is the same size. His enlarged nodes are back to normal. His small intestine tumor is gone. I am in a state of happy shock." -

SCROTUS, our "So-Called Ruler of the United States" behaves not normal, he ought to be evaluated psychiatrically. American citizens deserve a competent leader in charge of all faculties. We are not talking about normal as in conventional, we are concerned about normal as grounded in consensual reality. We are concerned about serious and disabling, not to say embarrassing personality disorders. This puerile "twitterer-in-chief" lies through his teeth be that about the size of his adoring crowd or the amount of opposition to the Dakota Access Pipe Line (DAPL.) This illegitimate "ruler" has the temerity to claim he got no phone calls of opposition while he shut down the White House phone lines, while, in plain sight on twitter, his favorite playground, the world is up in arms against more governmental abuse of Native Americans by for-profit corporations all too willing to risk environmental damage.
Most Republicans shut down their phone lines due to a deluge of calls from concerned citizens that are outraged at confirmation hearings of not properly vetted, unqualified candidates seemingly chosen only for their monetary contributions and their expressed disdain for the institutions they are supposed to head. Shame on all Democratic Senator that gave their consent to any of those outrageously unqualified candidates. None should have been acceptable, not one of them.
The bully lives in a fact-free world where he seems to base his opinions on the consumption of faux news intent on spreading conspiracy theories. If only it were all a joke, we could wake up laughing, but alas, the man is very dangerous and should alarm us all. John Oliver has come up with an answer that is real, yet soaked in much needed comic relief, please watch to the very end.

Grown up in Europe, I have carried identification on me at all times for half a century by now. Proof of identification seems a simple, common-sense, practical part of life, so I could not understand the resistance to such from liberals and democrats. Little did I understand the trouble many American citizens may have in obtaining such. Our Land of Enchantment in particular may feature Native American babies born on reservations not hospitals and Hispanics, here for generations, never having bothered to obtain passports and those elderly that never drove or lost their licenses. Demand for voter identification has to come with an assurance of easy access of obtaining such, possibly with a grandfathering-in option. Until, I will join the chorus against the right wing demand for voter ID.

My neighbor of late has supplied my pups with plenty of expired high end, seriously costly meat tidbits to their delight.
40% of food never makes it to the table,
while we have kids here in New Mexico that go hungry!

Freedom Won!
Freedom to chose - divorce -
as we know, most that marry will go through a usually painful divorce.
Scalia did not ask me, I am still considering myself a hippie, somewhat.
I am still anti-establishment,
I am still for freedom.
But I must admit, it took me a while to come around to the idea of marriage between other then a prince and a princess. That fairytale ideas from childhood had gotten stuck in my head and would not dislodge easily. It was my friend that introduced me 12 years ago to such an outlandish notion as same sex marriage in her thesis for law school. Of course I tried to argue her points. I am still against marriage in principle, but all for voluntary long term relationships, which I admire whenever I happen to come upon one.

I do not equate marriage with love.
Marriage is an arrangement and now those seeking legal immigration to the US should have double the choice of partner potential available to them for a marriage to qualify them for immigration!
What I really treasure is the discovery of the U.S. Treaty of Tripoli: "The government of the United States of America is not in any sense founded on the Christian Religion." I am sincerely relieved to have found a legal, valid point to refute the claim that US society is supposedly based in Christianity made by a former Tea Party dog walking buddy. I was surprised to hear that, but did not until today know of a legal answer to his claim. I am sincerely relieved, my thanks to Mary Bonauto, who made the argument in an exchange with Chief Justice Roberts. How odd that Roberts seemed unaware that marriage does not require a religious ceremony and does not have to twist any priest's unwilling heart or arm!
Along the lines of equal rights, our City Council, spearheaded by our gay Mayor, voted for ALL GENDER PUBLIC RESTROOMS meant to provide safe public bathrooms for everyone, despite such a thing seeming to me an oxymoron. There is no real safety in public bathrooms, now is there? It's a place to go in - and out as fast as possible, touching as little as possible. But lockable single rooms will insure that no one will have to listen again to another's conversation from another stall while in the process of doing their business. With gay pride happening this weekend, the LGBT community and our society as a whole has a lot to celebrate.

Today, U.S. Senator Tom Udall issued the following statement on the U.S. Senate’s bipartisan 78-21 vote to reaffirm the ban on waterboarding and other inhumane interrogation techniques. The amendment now moves forward as part of the National Defense Authorization Act.
